- Highway Maintenance Worker (starting at $16.62)
- Sr. Highway Maintenance Worker (CDL required, starting at $17.90)
- Auto Diesel Mechanic (CDL required, starting at $18.97)
- Highway Construction Tech I (starting at $16.62)
- Highway Construction Tech II (starting at $19.12)
REQUIREMENTS
- Work week is 40 hours. Overtime eligibility is according to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Highway Maintenance Workers, Highway Maintenance Worker Seniors, Auto/Diesel Mechanics and Highway Construction Technicians are eligible for overtime pay.
- Will be required to work outside of normal working hours including weekends and holidays, due to emergencies such as snowstorms, floods, accidents, sign repair, concrete blow-ups, contractor hours, etc.
- May be required to be "on-call." Employees placed in an "on-call"/stand-by status shall be compensated at a rate of 12% of the normal hourly rate of pay for each hour in such status.
- Must be able to report to work within a designated timeframe.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record is required. Within 60 days of hire, a Class A CDL with tanker and airbrake endorsements or Class B CDL is required. Please refer to the job description used for the specific position you are interviewing for. You will be responsible for the initial cost to obtain your CDL.
- Must be able to safely move, drag, lift 35 pounds frequently, up to 60 pounds occasionally (without assistance), and 90 or more pounds infrequently (with assistance). Must be able to safely move, drag, lift, load and unload various equipment, materials, supplies and hazardous materials or objects from the roadway within weight restrictions; spread and tamp surfacing materials; climb, bend or stoop; work in outdoor temperature extremes and work around high speed traffic. You may also be required to work in high places at times, such as on bridges or overhead signs. This job may require you to work in dusty conditions or around chemicals.
- Any DOT safety sensitive position will require a pre-employment drug test.
- All employees in this position are required to wear safety toe shoes. You will be responsible for the initial cost of these safety toe shoes. All other safety equipment will be provided by the state such as vests, hard hats, ear plugs, etc.
