Position: Railcar Sandblaster for Watco

 

Job Type: Full-time

Location: Omaha, NE

Pay: $20/hr

Schedule: 

  • 10 hour shift
  • 4x10
  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Morning shift
  • No weekends

Description: The general purpose of this position is to use a variety of sandblasting techniques to the exterior and interior of railcars. Must ensure that all company guidelines are met, and that all WMS EHS rules are followed when performing duties. In addition, must be able to read and interpret work orders in compliance with FRA, AAR, WMS and customer specifications.

Duties: 

  • Interpret job work orders to perform required railcar coatings
  • Coordinate and complete coatings in an efficient manner and within assigned hours
  • Notify supervisor of any materials and/or equipment required to ensure completion of job tasks
  • Interact with crew members in a team environment, as well as with supervisor
  • Follow all safety rules, keep work area clean and comply with all WMS Environmental Health and Safety Policies
  • Ensure FRA, AAR, WMS and customer quality assurance standards are met
  • Any other duties as assigned such special projects

Education/Experience: 

  • Ability to learn function specific operational details and pass an exam to demonstrate knowledge
  • Ability to learn, follow and perform required recordkeeping of WMS EHS, Quality policies, procedures and checklists
  • Knowledge of equipment and tools required to perform safe entry for cleaning

Physical Demands/Work Environment: 

  • Work in hot and cold environment, in and out of the weather; work safely around heavy equipment and on top of, under and inside railcars, as well as around railroad tracks
  • Ability to wear and care for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to steel toed boots, eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, respirators, and a variety of protective suits
