Position: Shag Driver for Firstar Fiber

Job Type: Omaha, NE

Location: Full-time

Pay: $16-$19/hr

Description: As a Shag Driver, your primary responsibility will be to operate shag vehicles efficiently and safely to transport materials within our facility. This role requires a combination of driving expertise, adherence to instructions, effective communication skills, and a strong focus on customer service.

Duties:

• Shag Vehicle Operation: Safely drive shag vehicles to transport materials within the facility following established routes and procedures
• Adherence to Instructions: Read and follow written instructions meticulously to ensure accurate and timely material transportation
• Effective Communication: Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills in English to interact with team members and communicate effectively with supervisors and other departments
• Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service when interacting with colleagues and other stakeholders, fostering a positive and cooperative work environment
• Basic Mechanical Knowledge: Possess a foundational understanding of vehicle mechanics to perform basic inspections and minor troubleshooting if necessary
• Physical Requirements: Capable of reaching, bending, and lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds. Comfortable working at heights of up to 20 feet
• Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot minor issues that may arise during transportation and proactively address challenges
• Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to safety protocols and guidelines while operating shag vehicles to ensure a secure work environment

Qualifications/Skills: 

• Prior experience as a shag driver or in a similar role is highly preferred
• Proficiency in reading and comprehending written instructions
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
• Basic mechanical knowledge to perform vehicle inspections and minor repairs
• Physical capability to lift, bend, and work at heights as specified
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing challenges
